1. ABUSE

Water Analogy

Problem:

Analogy: Boiling or bubbling water.

  • Abuse agitate the mind, just like boiling water cannot reflect anything clearly. The heat of Abuse destroys the clarity to see your true self and further facilitates your fall into Temptation (Sin).

Solution:

Analogy: Boiling or bubbling water cooled down with cold waters of Care.

  • The boiling or bubbling water is cooled down with Care. The chill of Care creates the Clarity to see your true self and resist temptation.

Water Analogy

Problem:
Analogy: Water covered by moss or algae.

  • When a person neglects their responsiblities towards self or other, both object and subject. It’s like water choked with moss or algae — heavy, sluggish, and unable to reflect light. This Negligence doesn’t let you see your true self and further facilitates your fall into temptation.

Solution:

Analogy: The moss or algae burned by the fires of Attention.

  • The moss and algae can be burned with the heat of Attention. The heat of Attention creates the Clarity to see your true self and resist temptation.

Water Analogy

Problem:
Analogy:  Wind-ruffled or stormy water.

  • A restless mind, full of regret or distraction, is like water constantly rippled by wind — never still, never reflective. Calm cannot arise.This Dismissal doesn’t let you see your true self and further facilitates your fall into temptation.

Solution:

Analogy: Wind-ruffled or stormy water covered by the earth of Recogntion.

  • Wind-ruffled or stormy water covered by the earth of Recogntion stills. The stillness created by recognition (earth) creates the Clarity to see your true self and resist temptation.

Water Analogy

Problem:

Analogy: Water that is cloudy or stirred up with sediment.

  • When the water is murky, you can’t tell what’s beneath. Doubt confuses perception — one hesitates, unable to discern truth from illusion. This Doubt doesn’t let you see your true self and further facilitates your fall into temptation.

Solution:

Analogy: The sediment settels down when through Investigation you stop stirring the water. 

  •  Water that is cloudy or stirred up with sediment is allowed to settle down through Investigation. The stillness created by Investigation creates the Clarity to see your true self and resist temptation.

Water Analogy

Problem:

Analogy: Water mixed with dyes or colors.

  • Just as colored water prevents you from seeing your true reflection, Craving tints the mind with sensory desire and attraction. You only see what you want to see, not what is.

Solution:

Analogy: Removing the colours because of being Satisfied with the bare water and it’s reflection

  • The dyes and colours of Craving mixed in the water is removed by being satisfied with the base water itself. The bare water created by Satisfaction creates the Clarity to see your true self and resist temptation.

  • When the water is in no light, you can’t tell what’s beneath. This blindness of deception doesn’t let you see your true self and further facilitates your fall into temptation.

Solution:

Analogy: Turning the light of Truth on in the lightless water.

  • When the light of Truth is turned on in the lightless water, the reflection becomes visible. The visibility created by Truth creates the Clarity to see your true self and resist temptation.

Analogy: Water in the glare of extreme Light.

  • When the water is in extreme Light, you can’t tell what’s beneath it either. This extreme Light of Glorification doesn’t let you see your true self and further facilitates your fall into temptation.

Solution:

Analogy: Reducing the ego-light in the water with humility.

  • When the extreme light of Ego is turned down in the lightfull water, the reflection becomes visible. The visibility created by Humility creates the Clarity to see your true self and resist temptation.
